The mortar is small enough to fit in your hand. It doesn't take up much space even when placed on the table, and is very useful for serving freshly ground roasted sesame seeds. The feeling of the sesame seeds being crushed is very pleasant, and you can enjoy the aroma as you use it.
 The glaze on the comb-like part is thin and applied over the entire surface, so the sesame seeds come off easily when washed.
